ĀSHA – an Academy of Social Sciences and Humanities in India

Under the double pressure of industrialisation and globalisation, education and research in the social sciences and humanities in India are undergoing decimation. The output is poor and largely irrelevant for the India of the 21st century. Moreover, very few young and talented students are attracted to building a career in these knowledge domains. At the same time, however, the rapid changes in India have brought about new social and cultural problems, which require original and innovative research. The Academy of Social Sciences and Humanities (ĀSHA) has been set up to address this.
